During the Nevsky XI International Ecological Congress in St. Petersburg, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Eddy Soeparno, met with Andrey Yatskin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia. The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation in modular nuclear power development and bilateral trade.
According to Eddy, Russia’s experience in building modular nuclear power plants (PLTN modular) offers a valuable example for Indonesia. The technology, developed by Russia’s nuclear agency Rosatom, has been tested and applied in various settings, making it a promising solution for supplying electricity to Indonesia’s remote and outermost regions.

“Russia’s modular PLTN is a major innovation that can help Indonesia accelerate its clean energy goals and improve access to power in areas that are still underserved,” said Eddy. He emphasized the importance of technology exchange and workforce training, which could support the growth of Indonesia’s renewable energy sector.
The meeting also touched on economic cooperation, with Russia expressing interest in increasing trade volume between the two countries. Eddy welcomed the initiative, noting that it aligns with Indonesia’s strategy to join BRICS and expand export opportunities in emerging markets. He added that such cooperation supports President Prabowo Subianto’s international diplomacy goals.
The visit reflects Indonesia’s growing efforts to seek international partnerships that support both sustainable energy development and economic resilience.
In line with these efforts to advance clean energy and international collaboration, Energy Academy Indonesia (ECADIN) is also playing an active role in driving sustainable change.
