Hanover, Germany (April 22, 2024) – The energy transition demands a shift towards cleaner and more sustainable fuels with lower emissions, necessitating the development of future fuel technologies. To support this critical transition, the Energy Academy Indonesia (ECADIN), in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and with support from PT Pertamina (Persero), hosted a Business Forum titled “Fuels of the Future” at Hannover Messe 2024 in Germany. The forum explored environmentally friendly technologies and fuels that will play a crucial role in the ongoing energy transition. This event was an integral part of Hannover Messe 2024, one of the world’s leading industrial exhibitions showcasing technological advancements and innovations across various sectors.
The hybrid event (online and in-person) featured prominent speakers from leading industries in Indonesia, Norway, and Germany, who shared their insights on the development of future fuels. The discussion, led by Syarif Riyadi, Ph.D., the Founder and CTO of ECADIN, featured presentations from the following individuals:
- Riva Siahaan, President Director – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga
- Erik Melaaen, Director of LNG – Hydrogen, and CCUS, Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP)
- Eva Pitterling, Department Head of Climate Emission Reduction – TUV Nord
Syarif Riyadi, Ph.D., concluded the business forum by emphasizing that it’s imperative to take a holistic approach to developing future fuels, integrating renewable energy generation and infrastructure development. Through precise planning and execution, we can expedite the adoption of these fuels and ensure broad acceptance.
Given Indonesia’s abundant resources crucial for future fuel components, there’s an opportunity for Indonesia to lead in the comprehensive development of future fuels across the entire value chain. This effort will not only enhance economic appeal for industry stakeholders but also foster sustainable sectoral growth.
