SMBC Indonesia and SUN Energy Join Forces for $10M Renewable Energy Boost

SMBC Indonesia and SUN Energy Partner to Advance Solar Energy Projects

PT Surya Utama Nuansa (SUN Energy), a leading solar energy project developer in Indonesia, has entered a strategic partnership with PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (SMBC Indonesia). This collaboration provides a USD 10 million Multi-Option Trade Facility designed to enhance SUN Energy’s operational and project expansion in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.

The financing, which includes Letters of Credit (LC), Bank Guarantees, and Working Capital Loans, offers the flexibility SUN Energy needs to secure essential raw materials and remain competitive in project tenders. By enabling efficient procurement and ensuring readiness for high-value solar energy tenders, the funding strengthens SUN Energy’s ability to lead Indonesia’s transition to renewable energy.

Nathan Christanto, Head of Wholesale and Transaction Banking at SMBC Indonesia, emphasized the alignment between both organizations in driving green business development. Vicky Lono, Group Head Corporate Finance at SUN Energy, highlighted that the funding supports innovation and portfolio growth, reinforcing the company’s commitment to a sustainable and cleaner energy future.

This partnership marks a significant step toward achieving Indonesia’s renewable energy goals, underlining the role of financial institutions like SMBC Indonesia in supporting sustainability-linked projects.
