PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (NRE), PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE), and Genvia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on developing green hydrogen production using advanced solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEL) technology. This partnership, facilitated by Energy Academy Indonesia (ECADIN), aims to integrate SOEL with geothermal heat sources, offering a more sustainable and efficient approach to hydrogen production.
As a strategic partner, ECADIN is instrumental in driving this collaboration, leveraging its expertise in energy and sustainability to accelerate clean energy transition.
Key Highlights from the MoU:
- Technical and Economic Study: A comprehensive study will be conducted at one of PGE’s geothermal locations to assess the feasibility and benefits of using Genvia’s high-temperature SOEL technology.
- Leveraging Geothermal Energy: PGE will provide geothermal sources for the study, contributing its expertise in geothermal energy to the collaboration.
- Synergy of Clean Energy Initiatives: Pertamina NRE’s broader clean energy portfolio, including renewable energy, battery storage, electric vehicles, and carbon businesses, complements PGE’s geothermal expertise.
Government Support: The Indonesian Ambassador to France expressed optimism about this collaboration, emphasizing its potential to accelerate Indonesia’s progress towards zero emissions.
