In celebration of its 67th anniversary, PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to lead Indonesia’s transition to clean energy through its flagship Desa Energi Berdikari (DEB) Program. By December 2024, the initiative has expanded to 149 villages, including 64 new additions this year, utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, micro-hydro, and biogas.
One successful example is Desa Junti in Indramayu Regency, where a 7.7 kWp solar power plant (PLTS) supports agricultural irrigation. This innovation has doubled the annual rice harvest from one to two cycles and introduced new crops, such as legumes. The economic benefits are substantial, with local farmers earning a combined Rp3.84 billion annually. This program aligns with government goals for Net Zero Emission 2060 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Pertamina’s clean energy efforts also include the Energy-Independent Schools Program (SEB), promoting renewable energy literacy among students in 11 Adiwiyata schools, with 12 more planned. As I Wayan Sucipta, Principal of SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar, highlighted, “This program inspires awareness of preserving the planet for future generations.”
