Senior Environmental Engineer or Geologist

Job Description

The Senior Geologist or Engineer will support the Fort St John, BC office as part of the Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation, and Monitoring (ARRM) team. Responsibilities include:

• Driving Matrix’s safety culture
• Overseeing site assessment, remediation, and monitoring projects
• Ensuring effective communication and collaboration for high-quality project delivery
• Traveling monthly to the FSJ office for team support and mentorship (if remote)
• Managing project timelines, budgets, and communications with stakeholders
• Preparing technical documentation, proposals, work plans, and reports
• Contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Engaging in professional development and career growth

What Are We Looking For

• A technical diploma or degree in geology, engineering, or a related field
• At least ten years of consulting experience in site assessment, reclamation, and remediation in British Columbia
• Registration with a professional organization (e.g., EGBC)
• Experience preparing technical reports, work plans, and cost estimates
• Skills in borehole logging, sample collection, and data evaluation
• Self-motivated with strong communication skills
• Ability to mentor junior professionals
• A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
• Experience with field equipment and digital data collection
• Preference for experience managing complex impacted sites and EGBC registration
