Job Summary:
The Risk and Sustainability Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks while developing and implementing sustainability initiatives. This role focuses on ensuring business operations are aligned with regulatory requirements, mitigating risks, and driving sustainability strategies to meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with internal teams to integrate sustainability practices and develop risk mitigation plans that support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management
- Identify, evaluate, and monitor potential risks to the business, including operational, financial, regulatory, and environmental risks.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and compliance with industry regulations.
- Maintain an up-to-date risk register, ensuring timely reviews and updates based on evolving business needs and external conditions.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure risk management processes are embedded in daily operations.
Sustainability Strategy Development
- Develop and lead the implementation of sustainability strategies, including reducing carbon footprint, energy conservation, waste management, and responsible sourcing.
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to integrate sustainable practices across the supply chain.
- Monitor sustainability performance through key metrics, ensuring alignment with corporate ESG targets and international standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams, to promote sustainability initiatives and risk management strategies.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on risk exposure, sustainability performance, and any necessary corrective actions.
- Lead workshops and training sessions to educate employees and partners on risk management and sustainability practices.
Sustainability Reporting
- Prepare regular sustainability reports, including progress towards sustainability goals and compliance with ESG standards.
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in sustainability communication, meeting the reporting requirements of stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in risk management, sustainability, or a similar role, preferably within a wholesale or retail environment.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop comprehensive sustainability plans.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience working cross-functionally with various teams.
