SIMTech is seeking a motivated and innovative Energy Systems Analyst to join their Sustainability Informatics & Strategy (SIS) Group. The analyst will play a crucial role in analyzing energy system models that will inform Singapore’s national decarbonization strategy, influencing high-level decision-making and contributing to global climate change mitigation and environmental stewardship.

Job Description

The successful candidate will utilize energy systems optimization models and apply existing methodologies in energy and emissions modeling to Life Cycle Assessment. Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Translate existing national and international energy systems models to advanced platforms.
  • Perform Life Cycle Assessment with optimization using recent techniques and tools.
  • Gather and translate policy user decision-making requirements into modeling problems.
  • Conduct techno-economic and environmental analysis of energy systems.
  • Engage in program coding and testing in compliance with approved life cycle methodologies.
  • Analyze policies using results from energy systems models.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Energy Policy or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with energy systems model generators such as TIMES, OSeMOSYS, PyPSA, and PLEXOS.
  • Willingness to learn new energy system models, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with techno-economic analysis of energy systems or sustainability-related systems.
  • Experience generating policy recommendations using energy systems modeling results.
  • If from a non-energy sustainability field, willingness to apply experiences to energy and emissions.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex procedures to colleagues.
  • Demonstrated hands-on capabilities.
  • Diligent with a positive work attitude.
  • Good communication, writing, and presentation skills.
