Job Description
The successful candidates will collaborate with Dr. Mingyang Wei on solar energy materials as part of a start-up grant project. Responsibilities include:
- Developing synthesis procedures for chemical systems such as organic molecules, metal complexes, nanocrystals, and oxide semiconductors.
- Prototyping heterostructure materials and conducting physical chemistry characterizations to analyze structural and chemical properties.
- Maintaining high safety and cleanliness standards to ensure an efficient research environment.
- Mentoring graduate students and research assistants, providing training on new lab processes.
- Contributing to grant writing and seeking external funding and fellowship opportunities.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background and expertise in at least one chemistry field: organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining key laboratory equipment, such as gloveboxes, fume hoods, Schlenk lines, vacuum systems, annealing furnaces, and spectrometers.
- Competence in material characterization and analysis methods including NMR, XPS, FTIR, UV-Vis, PL, and XRD.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work effectively in a collaborative research setting.
