Regional Sustainability Director

Job Description

We are looking for a Regional Sustainability Director who will lead sustainable operations for our client in the APAC region. This role involves applying subject matter expertise and thought leadership to support the client’s large and high-profile Real Estate sustainability strategies. The Sustainability Director is responsible for driving energy and broader sustainability programs within JLL’s service framework, focusing on energy efficiency, environmental compliance, project management, net-zero strategic planning, decarbonization, stakeholder engagement, sustainable procurement, ESG, and carbon disclosure.

The position requires strong interaction with client personnel and alignment of service delivery with broader strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include providing strategic guidance on decarbonization projects, managing client engagements, and expanding existing service delivery.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

• Providing strategic guidance to clients to help implement decarbonization projects and strategies.
• Managing client engagements focused on developing decarbonization strategies and quantifying impacts in climate-based scenario models.
• Overseeing the successful development and delivery of activities related to assigned engagements.
• Supporting client relationships and business development efforts, including proposal development and identifying target clients.
• Collaborating with other JLL service lines to deliver integrated energy and sustainability solutions.
• Maintaining strong relationships with key client stakeholders and ensuring effective governance structures.
• Delivering accurate and timely reporting for internal, corporate, and legislative requirements.
• Implementing sustainability initiatives such as green leases and waste reduction.
• Achieving cost savings across the property portfolio.
• Coordinating with clients to secure funding and approvals for projects.
• Tracking and communicating success stories related to the energy and sustainability program.
• Demonstrating innovative thinking to bring new solutions to clients.
• Providing strategic direction on enhancing and expanding service delivery to the client.
• Developing and implementing a Sustainability Management Plan (SMP), including legal compliance and risk management.
• Creating training and educational materials from JLL’s best practices and being an on-call resource for stakeholders on sustainability and environmental obligations.
• Ensuring all operational activities comply with relevant environmental legislation and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• LEED AP, CEM, WELL AP, or other related credentials.
• Approximately 10+ years of applicable experience.
• Strong entrepreneurial, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of design, construction, commissioning, MEP, and BMS systems in buildings.
• Familiarity with technologies for energy and sustainability initiatives.
• Experience developing business cases for investment in technology or performance optimization.
• Working knowledge of global/industry ESG trends in commercial real estate.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with executive-level clients and external team members.
• Ability to develop and cultivate business relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Experience working with landlords, developers, tenants, and real estate investment managers.
