Professional Officer (All Levels) (Built Environment with Mechanical Engineering)

Job Description

The role involves designing and teaching labs and practice modules, mentoring students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP), and leading innovation projects in collaboration with industry. The candidate will also manage labs and equipment to support academic programs and applied research, ensuring safety in lab environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry.
• Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research.
• Ensure safety in labs.

Job Requirements

• A good degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Masters, PhD, or relevant professional certifications like registered PE/CEng would be advantageous.
• Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience with mechanical systems in Building services environments or facility design consultancy preferred.
• Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
• Both design and management of mechanical building systems.
• Use of BIM software for design and engineering works, developing BIM models, and knowledge of CAD software such as REVIT, AutoDesk, and ArchiCAD.
• Working knowledge of building services systems such as Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, lifts, heat exchangers, micro-climate simulations, fire-testing, and acoustic experiments.
• Prior working experience in building and facility management.
• Experience with materials and materials property, as well as materials testing and fire testing, is advantageous.
• Extensive experience and knowledge of industry practices to bring industry perspective to SIT; experience with Green Marking and energy management is advantageous.
• Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
• Strong supervisory skills and enjoyment in working closely with students in an educational environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in keeping abreast of developments in the field and pursuing professional certification programs; possession of industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
