Job Description:

The Assistant Sustainability Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing compliance, sustainable operations and reporting relating to workplace and built environment. This role will encompass developing and executing strategies to optimize utility usage, energy consumption, and waste management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving sustainability initiatives to reduce operating costs and environmental impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with authorities, statutory boards, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the internal Facilities Management (FM) team to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • Manage and track department sustainability goals, conduct gap analyses, and formulate recommended solutions and action plans.
  • Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of energy, carbon emission reduction, and other environmental measures to meet sustainability targets.
  • Develop, review, and analyse building energy consumption, utilities usage, carbon emissions, and waste generation data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to sustainability, utility usage, and waste management, implementing corrective actions for improvement as necessary.
  • Manage the implementation of sustainable development projects, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals, cost-effectiveness, and positive environmental impacts.
  • Stay updated on best practices and implement new technologies or initiatives to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprint, and enhance waste management.
  • Lead and coordinate built environment related sustainability reporting, including but not limited to data collection, analysis, communication and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Engage with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to explore innovative solutions and best practices in sustainability, enhancing the organizations reputation as a leader in environmentally responsible facility management.
  • Collaborate with procurement department to evaluate and select sustainable products and services, such as electricity procurement.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in conducting feasibility studies, preparing cost estimates, and providing technical support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Good Degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in facilities management/engineering/sustainability.
  • Sound knowledge of sustainable FM operations, building systems such as ACMV, electrical and lighting system.
  • BCA GMAP(FM), SCEM, and WEMP certification will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Sound knowledge on local and international regulation and standards, such as BCA Green Mark, building control act and Resource Sustainability Act.
