The Opportunity

The Sustainability Department leads the company’s overarching strategy and initiatives on sustainability globally, spanning across both roles as owner and operator. Through the company’s sustainability framework, Ascott CARES, we partner extensively internally and externally to catalyse and deliver positive impact, transition to meet our 2030 goals and build a sustainable organization.

The department is part of the Chief Financial and Sustainability Officer’s office, and you will report to the AVP, Sustainability Department. You will be part of the team that works at the point of impact, and have direct influence on global initiatives, working at the intersection of sustainability, business, and operations.

The team works to align Ascott’s operations with international best practices across key areas of decarbonization planning, piloting of new technology, broader sustainability landscape, evolving regulatory and market expectations, disclosure work, and being a change catalyst, driving internal and external engagement platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist to develop and implement initiatives across the environment, social and governance (ESG) pillars of sustainability.
  • Assist to monitor and report on emerging global ESG trends and regulations to inform and advance Ascott’s sustainability strategies, working alongside Ascott’s local and overseas departments to define future improvement plans.
  • Schedule sustainability related meetings and assist in the preparation of meeting materials.
  • Assist in driving full implementation of Ascott’s ESG programme through successful engagement of internal stakeholders, including via the sharing of available tools and resources and facilitating exchange of sustainability best practices.
  • Familiarise with the systems and platforms used by the Ascott Sustainability team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy of data reporting at both property and portfolio levels.
  • Analyse and provide insights from data, measure performance against Ascott’s targets and standards, and conduct gap analysis against industry indices and best practices.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to consolidate materials for annual sustainability reports and other sustainability related disclosures.
  • The Company may assign portfolios or roles in addition to those above and/or vary the scope of responsibilities according to business requirements.

Requirements:

  • University Degree, preferably with areas related to Environmental / Climate Science or Hospitality / Real Estate / Business / Engineering
  • Familiarity with relevant sustainability frameworks and standards and, ideally, prior experience in implementing ESG and/or impact methodologies and measurement.
  • Strong work ethic, possessing a ‘can-do’ attitude and ability to take ownership of the issue.
  • Ability to produce high quality outputs in a timely manner, harnessing robust project management skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive to completion.
  • Self-starter with ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Curious mindset and strong interest to continuously deepen expertise in this area.
  • Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation skills to translate complex ideas with clear, concise messaging.
  • Strong people awareness, team orientation, adaptability, and ability to work across varying cultures and geographies.
