The Opportunity

My client is in the Food and Ingredients industry. They are currently expanding and is looking to hire a seasoned ESG Director to lead their expansion plans.

The ESG Division Head is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies while considering the environmental, social, and governance impacts of an organization’s operations.

The incumbent will need to collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage stakeholders, manage environmental risks, and drive initiatives that align with the organization’s long-term goals and values. With his/her expertise, the Division Head of ESG plays a vital role in driving positive change, ensuring regulatory compliance, and creating long-term value for both the organization and its stakeholders

The Talent

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in ESG consulting or a related field, with proven track record in project management and team leadership within environmental, sustainable development, engineering field, energy and power and/or other industry sectors with the focus on ESG/Climate/Environmental impact/GHG emissions/Operational management experience/ Supply chain transformation experience to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
  • Min. 2-3 years of experience with a strategy, operational efficiency
  • Implementing a new methodology and / or technology across an organization, driving sustainable change, developing sustainability or operational excellence solutions or supporting business programs to achieve ESG aims (incl. emissions) would be a plus
  • In-depth understanding of global trends, agendas, ESG frameworks, standards, and regulatory environments

The Job

  • Develop and implement ESG and Net Zero strategies for all business units across different locations, setting and operationalizing ESG strategies, defining KPIs and frameworks for measuring and monitoring their impacts
  • Lead and coach both Senior Management and local teams in the deployment of Net Zero focus programs
  • Stay aware of global ESG trends, regulations, and best practices, align ESG strategies with global climate targets and best practices.
  • Conduct ESG policy analyses and develop roadmaps and action plans to help improve sustainability practices of the Business Units.
  • Conduct ESG maturity assessments and due diligence for businesses, portfolios, and projects
  • Evaluate options for including ESG mitigation and adaptation considerations in investment projects
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored ESG solutions.
  • Identify and assess energy-related risks and opportunities across the Group, incorporating renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives to enhance sustainability performance.
  • Lead the integration of net zero principles into the investment decision-making process, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with local teams to drive energy reduction initiatives, implement energy management systems, and monitor progress towards net zero energy targets.
  • Develop strong relationships with industry partners, energy providers, and sustainability organisations to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing in the pursuit of net zero energy goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance and expertise to senior management teams on energy-related opportunities and risks, incorporating net zero energy considerations into investment decision frameworks.
