Job Description

The NUH Internship Programme offers a 6-month full-time opportunity for individuals to understand the operational aspects of healthcare organizations at the National University Hospital (NUH). Interns will explore key functions such as hospital administration, operations, human resources, communications, and quality improvement to support patient care delivery. Responsibilities include understanding hospital operations with a focus on environmental sustainability, collecting and reporting sustainability data, and conducting horizon scanning to research trends and interventions in healthcare sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Understand hospital operations and identify opportunities for enhancing sustainability.
  • Shadow staff across departments to learn about workflows and gather insights.
  • Conduct interviews with staff regarding possible sustainability interventions.
  • Provide feedback on sustainability efforts and necessary change management.
  • Assist in collecting data for sustainability metrics and improve data workflows using Excel tools.
  • Develop knowledge of relevant sustainability indicators.
  • Conduct a transportation habits survey (optional).
  • Research sustainability projects in other healthcare systems and identify trends.
  • Prepare a report summarizing recommended sustainability projects for NUH implementation.

Deliverables

  • Monthly sustainability reports
  • Findings from staff interviews and intervention recommendations
  • Horizon scanning project report
  • Analysis of the staff transportation survey and proposed interventions (optional)

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Meticulous and organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Passionate about sustainability
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
  • Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
