Job Description

Envisioning to create a smart, sustainable and resilient campus, NUS sustainability framework encompasses environmental strategies of Design, Decarbonise, Defend, Dematerialise and Dialogue under the Campus Sustainability Roadmap 2030.

This position supports the Head of Sustainability Strategy Unit to (i) spearhead and review the sustainability strategy development and delivery of the Campus Sustainability Roadmap 2030 and its key sustainability programmes, (ii) partner faculty and administration cluster stakeholders to co-own sustainability targets and projects to reduce university’s environmental impact, and (iii) position campus sustainability communications to achieve the strategic messaging of developing sustainability best practice within higher education sector, contributing to Singapore’s sustainable development and climate agenda.

NUS is inviting enterprising, committed individuals who are passionate in sustainability issues to partner us in embedding sustainability values and philosophy within NUS and University Campus Infrastructure (UCI) using a partnership and collaborative approach to support the implementation of the Roadmap 2030, its programmes and projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the Head to review the planning and implementation for the Campus Sustainability Roadmap 2030 and its key sustainability thrusts using an evidence-based approach
  • Work in close collaboration across university clusters (faculties, research, education), divisions and units to achieve university sustainability targets.
  • Bridge key communication gaps through dialogues on key communication and engagement platforms (e.g. Internal Circulars/Letters, NUS Sustainability emails, NUS News, events) to drive awareness and ownership of sustainability targets/projects, and improve carbon literacy to foster greater buy-in
  • Promote sustainability and climate action philosophy and values within NUS and UCI family.

Qualifications

  • Degree in environmental-related sciences, engineering, architecture, behavioural or social sciences
  • At least 5 to 8 years experience in sustainability profession
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to engage and interact effectively with all stakeholders within and outside the organisation
